Default Windows 9 Upgrade for Win 7 $30.00

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/mic...old,27779.html

Some info in the above link. I am undecided if I will 'upgrade' my Win 7HE
64bit or not.
Anyone have any ideas about the 'upgrade'?
Buffalo
PS: Sounds like going from 8 to 9 is a free upgrade.

Given they guessed the wrong name, what makes you think they guessed the
right price?

MS is apparently not going to have a Window 9

I am currently evaluating Windows 10

and it has brought back the start button

If you are now using Win8 and hate it...
a free fix is to simply install Classic Shell

You still need it on Windows 10. There is no programs menu, or if there
is I have yet to find it - and that was the main use of the start
button. I know there is a menu of the pretty pictures on one side, but I
won't be using any of the cut-down versions :-)

"I am" is the shortest English Sentence. "I do" gets you the longest.

In Windows 10 have they removed the ability to right click the MS Icon
on the Desktop Task bar on the right at the bottom of the screen to
access all of the computer functions?

Functions such as Shutdown/Restart, System, Network Connection and
Device Manager?

Sure there is, they just call it "All Apps" It's at the bottom just
above the search bar.

To see the rest of the options just right click on the start button

To get at that stuff, you just right click the start button.

Personally I don't see why anyone would want to go past Win7

Guess you didn't look too hard. "All Apps" (the equivalent of All
Programs) is right at the bottom of the Start Menu.

So basically you are saying in Windows XP we had a start button
In Windows 8.1 we have an MS Icon
and in Windows 10 we are back to the Start button.

The content is the same, the only difference is whether we right click
or left click.

I like the windows 8.1 function on the right click so I hope they don't
change things to much.

I am an old dog but find it easy to do new tricks.

The button does not say "start" on it but we all know what it is.

I have to give MS credit for this:

No matter how many mistakes they make, they seem to be making money.

Maybe they should ask Kodak how many times one can keep making mistakes
though !

People are still fixated to the start button. Just grow up boy. Time to
move on to newer technology whether it is good or bad. Just learn it like
any good boys would do.

I thought there is NO Windows 9. The progression is from 8.1 to 10.
Per the article at
http://tech.slashdot.org/story/14/10/03/2259240/possible-reason-behind-version-hop-to-windows-10-compatibility,
Windows would have trouble distinguishing between Windows 9 and Windows
95 or Windows 98.

That makes sense.
Usually tomshardware.com is very accurate.
So, it will probably not be 9, but 10 and I hope it will be offered to win7
users for $30 or LESS!!!!!!!

They moved. Most are accessible from the new "start" button menu, which
can be configured by right clicking the task bar and using the
configuration options from there.
