Default printer problems

I don't know this printer but if it is a USB device is could be something to
do with the power-saving features built in to Windows which shuts off power
to peripherals (including broadband USB modems if you're not careful!).

That's where to look first

Hello

I have a Satellite Notebook with windows XP home which is
giving me problems. I have reformatted the hard drive,
but I am still having the same problem as ever. I have a
hp printer 3420 which is not properly communicating with
the computer. I have had the printer checked out and
there is nothing wrong with it. The printer will print
fine if it is just turned on, but if a few minutes elapse
it will not work. I have to turn the printer off and on
again to get it to print. What is happening? I have
reinstalled the printer software several times but this
does not solve the problem. The device manager says all
is well.

What can I do? This is driving me crazy.

Jas
