How to delete Windows Live Mail Program
"Karen F" wrote in message ... How can I delete Windows Live Mail. I cannot find it in the control panel. It's part of Windows Live Essentials, which can be found in Control Panel Programs and Features. You can uninstall the whole package or single components of it. Here are the components included in it: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...ows-essentials -- SC Tom |

How to delete Windows Live Mail Program
You posted with the last available version of Windows Live Mail 2009 (which will run on XP, Vista, Windows 7).
- If using XP it can be uninstalled via Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs/Windows Live Essentials - if using Vista of Win7 via Control Panel/Programs and Features/Windows Live Essentials Note: - if you have been using Windows Live Mail it would be wise to export your contacts to a csv or vcf files so they can be imported into another email program. - if you have been using the WLM Calendar in WLM its data can not be exported - it would also be prudent to backup your email messages if any messages are worth archiving or not available on your email account(s) server. -- ....winston msft mvp mail "Karen F" wrote in message ... How to delete Windows Live Mail Program
Hi, Karen.
Like the others said, AND... Sent Items are handled and stored differently from incoming mail and news messages, so if you are archiving your WLM history, be sure to save all the Sent Items folders (there may be more than one if you have multiple mail and news Accounts) in addition to the ones that get Exported when you click the Export button. They (contacts) can be saved as a .csv file that can be imported into any number of non-Microsoft email clients. The messages can be saved as text. Unfortunately, they can only be saved individually, but not as a group of them. Or they could just be forwarded to herself and opened in the new client program. -- SC Tom |

I don't know about Live Mail, but messages can all be saved in a single file with Thunderbird. In fact, they already are, but the headers and bodies are stored together, which is kind of messy. -- Crash Atheism is a matter of faith, too. |

How would one back them up in such a way that they could be readable again without using Windows Live Mail? *.csv files can be imported into a variety of email programs or even email accounts using their respective web interface *.vcf files can be imported into Vista or Windows 7/8 'Users\Contacts', once done they can then be subsequently imported or migrated into a variety of email programs. Email messages in WLM can be exported (or even drag/drop) to a user created Windows Explorer folder. Those message are of the form *.eml which are viewable in any text editor. - Possibly of even more significance/importance those messages can be imported/transferred into other email programs (e.g. Thunderbird by installing a third party Thunderbird add-on - ImportExport Tools) https://support.mozillamessaging.com...ng-thunderbird Additionally, Windows Explorer in Vista/Win7/Win8 can be configured to show the title or subject field of messages (WLM uses a hex/numeric string as a filename for *.eml) and viewable in Explorer when the preview pane is enabled. ....winston msft mvp mail |
