Yeah aure, Rolf all the Democrats are right. The soviet system was the biggest success in the history of Earth and created a utopia that simply by electing Bernie or Warren we can have right here in the old USA. I'm sure there are at least a u=hundred million people here without whom America would be more of a utopia! Vote Democrat this time! |

But there were no hungry people, but no rich. You got apartment from state and go to cheap places on vacancy. Food was very cheap and restaurants, but technical stuff and cars expensive... all in all if you are satisfied with being poor, but with shelter and food, it is ok... Hmmm... sounds like what the leftist loonies want. I prefer independence from the group-mind and be self sufficient. Some people can't imagine self sufficiency as a way of life. From what I have heard from older relatives here, and a long time ago back in the 1800s and early 1900s, there weren't any taxes. Today, people would ask "How did the government run without any taxation on the people?". Well, then the gov. would just impose imposts, duties, and tariffs. Gov. wasn't huge like it is now, and prices were very stable. A gold and silver system seemed to work quite well. Anyway, I was just curious what it was like. |

Communist Serbia abused dissenters. Trump may be our "Deadbeat in Chief" but at least we don't crack down on dissenters as much as Russian/Chinese gangsters. America entered a recession August, 2019, I think. The consumer Price Index _ wildly _ understates the inflation rate of poor urbanites. Rent defines the inflation rate for people on fixed incomes, part-time workers with few benefits, and contractors with no benefits. At some point, this "stealth" inflation makes it so that one can no longer pay rent; depression sets in, and one is removed from society, and placed in a shelter. For these people, the recession/depression has been going on for a long, long time -- hard and strong. Pockets of depression, tent cities. Hoping to cash in on this misery, Democrats are drooling over Amazon, imagining different ways to skewer it, for the feast. A high minimum-wage and high housing standards are snooty; they remove the lower rungs of the ladder, to keep "undesirables" out. You are pretty much living in a communist city now! Everything has changed over there... finally, sanity. |

One of the main problems of communism, and socialism, was that due to (inherent?) human flaws it was as easily perverted to a totalitarian system as was capitalism, where a leading class established and enriched itself again, and the human rights of the rest of the population were easily violated. We could see that for example in the Soviet Union until Gorbachov’s reforms, in the German Democratic Republic (where I grew up), and we are still seeing it in China. None of this has to do with Windows 10, Linux, or physics, though.
