Setup couldn't start properly
I loaded the windows 10 setup program, and while it was still
downloading at 0%, my windows 8.1 pc rebooted,. I tried the MediaCreationTool again, but this time it complained about not being able to start: Setup couldn't start properly. please reboot and try running setup again. I have since rebooted twice, but it still won't start! Any other way of getting it to run? |

Used for electronic OS purchase (MicroSoftStore) You can even find a folder like this on your old WinXP machine, when you bought Windows 8. C:\$Windows.~WS Used by MediaCreationTool.exe These can contain up to 5-6GB of data. Including the install.wim or install.esd. And can be used to install the OS. If MediaCreationTool runs, it can create WS but clean out and delete most of the content of BT. So if you've just completed an operation with one of them, you can save it temporarily someplace, to keep the content safe. Until you're satisfied it is no longer needed and delete it. I couldn't find a logfile for MediaCreationTool. But I also don't know what I'm looking for (XML file ? ..log file ?) Paul |
