Yep, bad guess on my part, just looked in the store and that is its full title, calculator2, there is also a calculator one and a bunch more. Rene |

I did not even think it was the name of the calculator! I thought it meant something. If it is just the name of the app, then everyone should get that same 2. But it is not in the picture that the good guy showed? https://i.imgur.com/2kInLun.png So it is confused to me.!!!??!!!???!!! |

I am going to venture a guess at your problem. Go to the Control Panel, Programs, "Uninstall a program", and delete all calculator programs that are shown as being installed. It is possible that one of the calculators that you install became the default and is masking the native windows Calculator. It I am correct, once the last one is uninstalled and you do a reboot, you should get the native calculator when you do a search on Calculator. I am theorizing that it is working like Windows Defender when you install McAfee. When McAfee is installed Windows Defender sort of drops out of the system. When you uninstall McAfee it comes back with out any input on your part and takes over the virus checking function. -- 2018: The year we learn to play the great game of Euchre |

Microsoft made one calculator application. Whereas Calculator^2 was made by a private developer. It's a freemium application, with the possibility of in-app purchases. I'm not a fan of these giant calculators. When I'm in the mood to calculate, I "borrow" a win32 calc.exe from an older copy of Windows. ******* In Win10, you could also use the Bash shell, and try your hand at command line "bc". If you're on some other Windows, you can use this version. https://cytranet.dl.sourceforge.net/...1.06-2-bin.zip bc.exe dc.exe https://managedway.dl.sourceforge.ne...1.06-2-dep.zip readlines.dll # In same folder as above two. https://svwh.dl.sourceforge.net/proj...1.06-2-doc.zip bc.pdf # user manual In Command Prompt cd /d C:/path/to/three/files/above bc.exe -l # The minus L indicates "include trig library etc" scale=40 # Sets number of digits of output 5*7/3 # Do a calc... 11.6666666666666666666666666666666666666666 control-D # end of input You can calculate PI to a million digits with that if you want. But this is slower than SuperPI would be. bc.exe -l scale=1000 # start small, avoid trouble, double size, retest 4*a(1) # four times arctan of 1 is PI. Paul |

alt.comp.freewa I think you all forgot tht you installed it manually at some point. Because the Windows 10 calculator does not seem to be in the default. No, I did not. / Yes it is. Most of you I think are using the Windows 10 Store Calculator. I am, because it comes installed by default. |

WTF? Setting up new Win10 - where is the standard calculator?
"slate_leeper" wrote in message ... The "standard" calculator has very poor reviews, and did not work at all on my machine either. I found one called Moffsoft FreeCalc which works just fine. The calculator button on my keyboard doesn't find it. I just put an icon on the desktop for it. Depending your keyboard, it should be easy enough to change what the calculator button is opening. I have a MS Sidewinder x4 keyboard, and it took hardly any time at all to change to the calculator I like (FreeCalc, same as you). Besides the look of it, I like that you can set it to be "always on top". I hate it when I have a couple large windows open, and when I press the Calculator key, the MS one would invariably always be behind them. -- SC Tom |
