Default Sharing WiFi.

My neighbour wants to share my WiFi. What security should I put in
place for this?

Depends on how it is shared and what your neighbor intends to do with it.

If your router or access point has the capability of setting up a guest
network that will let your neighbor share your internet connection but
keep him off your home network.

My wife and I share WiFi at our house. We could have chosen between
either 2.4 or 5.0 band on my router. I use password protection on
both bands and have set up the password on my wife's laptop to use the
5.0Mhz band.

We have our PCs at opposite ends of our house to accomodate our
different tastes in music, etc (and frees up the volume control on my
speakers!). Access to the router in this example means the signal has
to go through two brick walls which doesn't show any difficulty. I
have checked with neighbors on the other side of the road and they can
see signals for both bands but they don't need to know the passwords
of either band as they have WiFi access from their own routers.

My WIFI is open to my wife and I, using the security key.
I believe you can protect you on data using the Windows 10 network
protocols with permissions and ownership of the resources functions
provided by Windows 10.

However to share resources, I must first share the resource on my
computer, and then set up her computer to use those resources.

For a person coming onto the LAN, ie two daughters, husbands,
grandchildren and friends, I must allow them access to the share
resources on the two computers.

At least one article commented, that this is what happens
when security experts aren't consulted before you close
off a standardization cycle.

With all the mechanisms available, who knows, maybe your
neighbor was already using your Wifi :-/

Heavens! I think I'll get him to get his own.

Is the right answer!

I don't even let guests at home use our network. That's what guest settings
are for.
