Default Windows Messenger w/Media Center in XP

Whenever I open media center, I get this message - 'Media Center was unable to
open Messenger. Please make sure that Windows Messenger is installed on your
machine.' - although messenger is open at the time. Can anyone help me?

Seen this to on one of my systems rite out of the box never did figure out
what was wrong.
both seprate programs work fine.
