http://www.pcworld.com/article/29238...er-lapses.html You seem to be implying that they will require Windows users to pay for a subscription like Office 365. What a Microsoft representative was quoted as saying said no such thing. Let's quote it from the article: "“Microsoft will offer a free upgrade to Windows 10 for qualified Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices in the first year. After the first year, upgrades will be paid via boxed product and VL Upgrades.”" In other words, if you don't upgrade for free during the first year, you will be able to do so on day 366 and on by buying the product at a store. If the product is purchased, you will get updates for free for the lifetime of that device. -- Slimer Encrypt. |

Microsoft will lose millions of clients but will ensure a periodic profit
which is better for the company. It's not the end of the world it's just me feeling poor. "A" escreveu na mensagem ... http://www.pcworld.com/article/29238...er-lapses.html -- A |

I'll be disappointed if they do that, but luckily it will be no more than a disappointment because I am reasonably familiar with alternatives that would enable me to abandon Microsoft tomorrow if I had to. I'd prefer not to just yet, but I'm not the least bit worried by what Microsoft decide to do. I'm sure they're not worried about me either if they really have 400 million Windows users. I wonder how many customers they'd need to lose before they started caring what we thought? Rod. |

I think I'll be waiting to be sure if we'll have to rent windows 10 like
Office 365. Now all we have are rumors. "Roderick Stewart" escreveu na mensagem ... No, what your title of the message implied is that even if folks upgrade in the first year they will have to pay after the first year. If it does work like that, then the free upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 is effectively the opportunity to replace a system that has five more years life before I have to do something, with another one that has only one year. Not only does this offer me no incentive to change, I don't even feel much of an incentive to find out about it. Rod. |
