Windows 10 Pro upgrade was a piece of cake!
Back on July 9th, I did what I thought was a clean install of
Windows 8 Pro, updated to 8.1 Pro and reinstalled all my programs, including Start8. All was well. The product key that I got with Windows 8 Pro worked fine. On July 29th, I found early in the day that Windows 10 had downloaded onto my HP desktop with an i7 CPU and 8 GB of RAM. I used the creation facility to download Win 10 Pro and Win 10 Home ISO's and burned the DVD's (for later backup). Today was a WhatTheHell day. I'd done an Acronis backup on the 29th. Today I copied all my personal data files and .pdf's onto a thumb drive. I clicked on the Windows 10 icon in the notification area and told Windows 10 to install itself. Starting at 9:02 this AM, I was done with the full upgrade in only 42 minutes. What a piece of cake! Start8 is there and functioning. Fences from Stardock is there and keeping my desktop icons organized. Pretty everything is there and functioning as it did in Win 8.1 Pro. When logging in, even my picture is shown on the Lock Screen. I hope that everyone's upgrade is as painless as mine. I'm getting Start10 to go on this puppy. |

Yeah my upgrade went fast and smooth too, I'm trying out their new start menu for a little while, but I have a feeling I'll go back to Classic Shell at some point |

I guess MS didn't want to admit just how badly they screwed that part up and so did not revert to the earlier type menus. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roger Blake (Change "invalid" to "com" for email.
