help: no longer able to drag and drop to shortcuts
I recently updated to windows 10 1903 with what appeared to be no
errors for the update, but now I find I am unable to drag and drop files from explorer to shortcuts for remote shares that I have set up on my desktop. examples; open folder in explorer right click and hold file move mouse to shortcut to remote location a little not allowed symbol appearscircle with slash through it release right button and nothing happens. This method used to work in 1809. I can however click and open the shortcut to the remote folder and drag and drop to the open explorer for that folder. I have tried rebooting... restarting explorer in task manager.... I have run sfc and dism with no errors showing up, so I think this is a new security "feature" but don't know how to turn it off. anyone know anything about this and maybe help me out? or will I have to try a revert back to 1809? thanks for your time me |

help: no longer able to drag and drop to shortcuts

There is no need to drag anything. this method creates a shortcut on your desktop. I just tried it and it works on my 1903 machine. You have to understand that when new version of Windows 10 comes out, most old features continue to work as before. Only the new features are added in new upgrades. I never drag things just for the sake of it. I prefer to have links on Right-Click mouse clicks!!!!! help: no longer able to drag and drop to shortcuts

Ummm I am not sure if I explained correctly or if you understood correctly but yes.... that is exactly what is not working on my version. I have the shortcuts created on the desktop to access remote folders, and drag and drop onto those shortcuts used to move/copy the files to the remote folders. It no longer works that way. I would like to have it work that way again. You have to understand that when new version of Windows 10 comes out, most old features continue to work as before. Only the new features are added in new upgrades. That is a laughable statement. With each new version things are added, taken away, or just changed in how they work...... it has always been that way, and will most likely always be that way. And one of the functions was altered in between 1803 and 1903 and I want to figure out how to get it back to the way it was befo despite microsofts eternal "we know best" attitude. But you already know this. I never drag things just for the sake of it. I prefer to have links on Right-Click mouse clicks!!!!! I am not dragging for the sake of it. I am moving files from one computer to another. And I prefer to have shortcuts on my desktop to drag and drop from one folder to another as it works better for me. thanks for your time and any more input you may have. me |

So Kind of a work around but annoying none the less. Security permissions problem? thanks for any help. me |
