Personally, I don't consider spending 30-60 seconds to configure a
third party tool to be a waste of time, especially considering the
massive amount of time it saves every day by not having to deal
with the convoluted native interface. Some people say you'll have
to reapply those tweaks after major version upgrades, but I
haven't found that to be the case. Even so, I'd gladly spend
another 30-60 seconds to fix a ton of usability issues because I
know how much time it'll save me down the road.

BTW, FWIW, no update has ever changed my Open Shell settings.

Nor mine, but if you read here for any length of time, you'll hear from
well-meaning but ill-informed people that your settings will most likely
be restored to defaults during every major version upgrade. Fortunately,
it's not true, but even if it were to happen, it's fast and easy to
reset them.

I have read here since Win10 existed and found there it no lack of
wrong information. I wish MSFT would bring back their news servers, it
seems there was less mis-information being posted there.

I wish they would bring them back too, but I don't believe it will
ever happen. The web-based forums might be better for those asking
questions, but for those of us who answer questions, newsgroups are
*much* better. It used to be a combination of Usenet and web-based
servers, and was ideal.

Mine may not all have ever been restored to default but they certainly
have been variously tampered with. There seems to be no pattern as to
which.
