Default Stored Network passwords

Hello all,

It appears when I try to store net passwords for a particular path and
provide the correct credentials,(ie \\server\share) those credentials are
used for every other network location (ie. \\server\share1) that I specify.
I thought that the point of stored passwords is that you can specify
different ones based on location. These are UNC paths for which I am
specifying.
Any thoughts...
TIA,
Altria

Create an account/password on \\server that matches your local
account/password so that you are no longer challenged for a password.

Default Stored Network passwords

Hello Pegasus,

Well it doesnt appear to be that simple as the \\server\ is actually a
netapp filer. Although I could modify the sharing permissions, they are set
for everyone. I do not want to duplicate efforts on sharing permissions when
I am setting everything from NTFS perms. I have tried to be explicit but it
does not help. Any other advice?

Thanks,
Altria

In addition, I may not have mentioned that these are two different account
accessing two different shares which reside on the same server/domain. Are
you not able to add multiple accounts to different shared resources which
reside on the same server/domain?

TIA,
Altria

AFAIK, you can authenticate yourself on a host with one single
account/password only at any one time. To use different credentials, you
must first disconnect your machine from all resources on the host machine to
allow the current credentials to lapse.
