I seem to be having a problem installing the latest version of Outpost
which keeps failing because the installer claims I don't have the right
access privileges. I am awaiting a response from Agnitum but wondered
if this was an XP problem as I have seen a number of similar problems
reported in newsgroups.

Anybody know of a general issue with Admin rights on XP?

The OS is Windows XP Pro with SP1 and all the latest security fixes.

TIA

Greetings --

You didn't mention whether or not you're logged in using an
account with administrative privileges. Is this the case?

Bruce,

I only have one account and it has administrator privileges according to
the User manager anyway.

Greetings --

OK. What happens if you attempt the install while logged in as
Administrator (the built-in account)?

I assume that you mean the Administrator account that appears when you
boot to Safe mode?

I tried to do this and I got the same result and the installation fails.

Greetings --

Sounds like there's something wrong with that particular version
of Outpost or its installation media then. Have you encountered this
problem while performing any other installations or updates?

I have not had a problem installing software in the past. Although when
I re-installed Outpost V1.0 after the failed attempt to install V2.0 I
got a similar message flash up but the installation completed and the
program works OK. I suspect that this is an Outpost problem as there
are one or two other people experiencing similar problems but most seem
to have no problem at all.

Strange but there you go!

Thanks,
