Default windows media player

could anyone help me?? all of a sudden my media player has none of the songs
on it and it says add but even when i do nothing happens! the music is still
on the files but not saved into the media player, have no idea why this has
happened and have tried added the files manually with no luck! help anyone
please!!!!!!
