Default How to: Prevent Zip folders from opening on download

I clicked the wrong thing, and can't return to normal. When I download a
zip folder, I DO NOT want it to open automatically. I want the dialog box
that gives me the option to save it to disk. I've lost that option. How do
I get it back?

See "Not Prompted to Specify Download Folder for File"

The KB article Thorsten referenced comes close, but isn't correct for XP.
For XP go to Folder Options, File Types. Locate the ZIP entry, highlight it
and click Advanced. Then check Confirm open after download.

Ok, I don't know why the Advanced button is missing, but you may be able to
work around this manually. Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CompressedFolder

Look in the right pane for a value called EditFlags. Double click this
value and set it to 0 (zero). It will appear as 0x00000000
