How to send a fax from a scanned document?
It seems as if you haven't gone through the Fax Configuration Wizard.
Open the Fax Console and click on "Configure Fax." Go through the "Fax Configuration Wizard" and fill in the blanks as appropriate. On the screen headed "Select Device for Sending or Receiving Faxes" make sure to check the boxes next to "Enable Send" and "Enable Receive." Set either to manual answer or auto answer as desired. The last screen says "You have successfully completed the Fax Configuration Wizard" and shows a summary of settings. They should look something like this: Configuration Summary: Devices configured to send faxes: Zoom V.92 PCI Voice Faxmodem The TSID of these devices is XXX-XXX-XXXX. Devices configured to receive faxes: Zoom V.92 PCI Voice Faxmodem Devices are configured to automatically answer incoming fax calls after 2 rings. The CSID of these devices is XXX-XXX-XXXX. If yours looks like that, the problem may be that your modem is (a) not working properly or (b) not compatible with Windows XP Fax. If your modem shows as "Modem Intel(R)537epv9xdf" that unfortunately is not the name of the modem manufacturer but the identification of the chipset used in the modem, so I can't see if it's on the "Hardware Compatibility List." If you know the actual make and model of your modem, go to http://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/Default.aspx?m=x and check to see if it is OK for use with XP. Open Device Manager (e.g., right click on My Computer, select Properties, on Hardware tab, click "Device Manager"). Go to the Modems entry, click on the +, the right click on the modem identification and select properties. Does "Device status" indicate "This device is working properly"? Under "Device usage" does it say "Use this device (enable)"? Go to the "Diagnostics" tab. Click the "Query modem" button. What does it say for the response to "AT+FCLASS=?" Click the "View log" button, and see if there appear to be any error messages there. See the second post above from Gary Walker. You should see a window with the title "Fax Properties" with 5 tabs: General, Sharing, Devices, Tracking, and Archives. On the General tab, you should see an icon of a fax machine and the name "Fax." Most of the rest of this tab may be not filled in. What does it say after "Model:"? Click the "Devices" tab. What is listed under the heading "Device Name Send Receive"? How to send a fax from a scanned document?
OK, you've got this document you want to fax. If you double click the
document, does some program start up and show you its contents? If this happens, does this program have a "Print" function so you can print it on a printer? If the program has a print function, does it let you select the printer to use? If it will, do you see a printer named "Fax" in the list? If Fax is listed as a printer, what happens wen you select it and click "Print", does the Send Fax Wizard start? If the Send Fax Wizard starts, does it finish and tell you it sent your Fax? Please remember, we cannot read your mind and details are VERY important, be as candid as you can with your answers. How to send a fax from a scanned document?
Well,
You have FAX modem V.92,Data fax Internal donny equipped in your PC. OK you should hooked up with the line from FAX MODEM to the ANALOG telephone line.(Be sure that YOU CAN SEND FAX with FAX MODEM only on ANALOG TELEPHONE line".) As your PC is running Windows XP, have you installed "FAX service" in Start-Control Panel-Add Remove Program-Add Remove Windows Component? This makes "FAX" appeared in Start-"Printer and FAX", as you can noticed it besides your normal printer. Now you MUST select your phone line type "PULSE" or "TONE" in Start-Control Panel-"Telephone and Modem Option" - Dial Information TAB as well as Country and your City code or local area code. Ok then you are ready to go to "FAX console" to configure FAX service with "FAX configuration wizard for "Enable Send" and "Enable Receive." As to TSID & CSID box, put any name you like for the identification of your PC-FAX to communicate with other FAX machines. Did you do all above ? Then back to Microsoft Word, open .doc file containing scanned image with your scanner following File-Open of Word menu. Now you are ready to PRINT the document following File-Print of Word menu selecting "FAX" in Printer Name Drop Down Box of print pop-up window of Word. Printing the document to "FAX" will pop up "FAX sending wizard" Recipient's FAX number you must enter to send your Doc. How it goes ? What now? Hal Try these 3 experiments and report results (in detail, please): 1. Create a fax as you have been doing. Go through the Send Fax wizard as usual. When you get to the "Schedule" page, schedule the fax to be sent 10 minutes in the future. Complete the Send Fax Wizard. Now open the Fax Console. Is your Fax in the Outbox? Double click on it. Can you see your cover page and the page(s) you wanted to fax? Close the view. Wait until the scheduled time. Does the Fax Monitor open and indicate a fax is being sent? Did the entry move from Outbox to Sent Items? 2. Using a different telephone (e.g., your cell phone), dial the number of the telephone line to which you have connected your fax modem. Do you hear ringing over your cell phone? Does the computer make a "ring" sound? Click on the appropriate button to answer the fax (or before you start, configure Fax Services to automatically answer after 2 rings). Do you hear fax tones over your cell phone? 3. Open Fax Console. Click on File | Send a fax. Go through the Send Fax wizard (you are creating a single-page fax). For the telephone number use your cell phone number. Make sure that "Use dialing rules" is UNchecked, and enter your cell phone number in the space for "fax number" EXACTLY as you would dial your cell phone from your home phone (i.e., if you would dial a 1 and/or an area code, include that information). Finish the Send Fax Wizard. Does your cell phone ring? Answer it. Do you hear fax tones? -- Lem -- MS-MVP - Networking To the moon and back with 64 Kbits of RAM and 512 Kbits of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer |

Hal....I will try second Experiment..Hal -- HAE "Lem" wrote: Hal wrote: LEM,I have gone thru the Confiuration wizard,Enable send Checked,Enable receive checked, manual answer.Summary just like you show except the modem is Intel(R)537epv9edf,Dell said on the chat it is 56k Data Fax Modem. The Device Manager says this device is working properly,it is enabled.Diag. query AT+FCLASS = reads 0.1.2.2.0 View log,no errors.

I have done everything you suggested. The info about Microsoft word,my image is filed in my documents,I open it and it appears AND i printed it to the fax printer and thesending wizard open . I followed the info. But I could not see that it was sent in the monitor. HAL -- HAE "Duke Williams" wrote: Well, You have FAX modem V.92,Data fax Internal donny equipped in your PC. Lem, Item #3 please explain this item again, doesn't seem to work ? Hal Hal, you said that "I used my cell phone to call my fax printer." Do you have a separate multi-function printer/scanner/fax that you are attempting to use, or do you have a fax modem INSIDE your computer case? And if you have BOTH devices, do you have a telephone line connected to the fax modem in your computer, or only to the printer/scanner/fax? -- Lem MS MVP -- Networking To the moon and back with 64 Kbits of RAM and 512 Kbits of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer |
