The easiest way is to change the eMail address and to change it back to the
right address. After that you will have a new confirmation eMail.

(just to provide a solution for google users)

Default 'email address not verified'

Hi,

I had to go through this problem today, despite that I've had a passport
account for 3 years.

The simplest way is to login and then go to the account summary page. At
the top of this page, there will be a yellow box and in the box will be a
link to verify your account. Click on this link to get a new verification
email.

https://account.live.com/summarypage.aspx

HTH - It took me like 30 minutes to figure this out. Microsoft is so
clueless sometimes...

Default 'email address not verified' = no button to click on.

Jonathan,
windows messenger works but my email address display also says 'email
address not verified'.

In order to verify my email address, I followed your instructions but I get
the following:
"Verify your e-mail address if you used your own e-mail address to create
your Windows Live ID (The e-mail address and password that you use to sign in
to Windows Live programs and services such as Windows Live Hotmail and
Windows Live Messenger; Microsoft services such as Xbox LIVE, MSN, and Office
Live; and anywhere else that you see the Windows Live ID logo.) you might be
asked to verify your e-mail address.

1. Click Verify your e-mail address. ==Do not have this option/button to
click !
2. Make sure the e-mail address shown is correct, and then select Send me
verification e-mail.
3. When you receive the verification e-mail, follow the enclosed
instructions."
Verify your e-mail address
If you used your own e-mail address to create your Windows Live ID (The
e-mail address and password that you use to sign in to Windows Live programs
and services such as Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger;
Microsoft services such as Xbox LIVE, MSN, and Office Live; and anywhere else
that you see the Windows Live ID logo.) you might be asked to verify your
e-mail address.

Click Verify your e-mail address.
Make sure the e-mail address shown is correct, and then select Send me
verification e-mail.
When you receive the verification e-mail, follow the enclosed instructions.

Greetings,

There's been two new versions of the Windows Live ID site since this post in 2006, I'm
actually surprised the link works at all.

Head over to:
https://account.live.com/verifysi.as...rp=summarypage

Click the 'Send e-mail' button and it will send you a verification e-mail with the
verification link you click to get verified.

Since you've already been using Messenger I assume you didn't get the verification e-mail so

As such, you'll need to contact Passport Services and request a verification e-mail (form is

Jonathan,
I am just beginning to use MSN messenger, and have only 1 contact, my home
(wife). I have been using messenger effectively, but constantly get "e-mail
address not verified", which does not stop anything, but merely clogs up the
message screeen.
If you could show me how to either verify my home address, or get this
repeating notification dropped, I would appreciate it.
Thanks much.

Greetings Neil,

Yes the link changed a few years ago (note the original post is from 2006).

Instead, you can now send yourself a new verification e-mail:
https://account.live.com/verifysi.as...rp=summarypage

and if you're still having problems, you can contact Windows Live ID services:
https://support.live.com/default.aspx?productkey=wlid
After clicking the link, choose any option from the FAQ on the left, then choose 'Get more
help' at the bottom right, and then 'Get more support'.
