Default Digital Faxing

Ok, I've read all about NOT being able to fax through a cable modem, yet...

I have digital phone, with a dial tone, able to make phone calls. Is there a
way toconnect the fax to it? Or is the technology just not caught up yet?

Default Digital Faxing

Fax uses OLD analog technology.
Some digital phone systems can handle analog phones and fax, others cannot.
Currently, some of the digital phone providers lock out any fax capability,
unless they are paid more.
As far as a document in a fax compatable mode-- It's nothing but a digital
file in a fax compatable format.
As a result, the file can be sent in whatever software that can transfer a
binary file, and then viewed with the usual fax viewers.
