Extract Only Files of a Specified (I Specify) Date
Hi,
One of my desktop PCs has one NTFS HD "split" into two logical drives (C: and D. WinXP installed on both C: and D: and this is a Dual Boot system. I booted up WinXP on D: partition/drive and used WinZip V7.0 (old) to "zip up" the 3 main WinXP folders on C: drive (and vise versa).. Recently I wish I could extract every FILE from "Documents and Settings" of a SPECIFIED DATE (all other files of a different date are ignored). Note: I would allow (temporary via "Folder Options") hidden folders and files to be "seen". Does anyone know of a utility (willing to buy) that can only extract files from "Documents and Settings" that are of specified (I specify) date? This does NOT have to be a compression utility such as WinZip, FileZilla, etc, However, if a new compression utility has this feature, I am willing to buy it. Thank You in advance, John |

Extract Only Files of a Specified (I Specify) Date
SNIP
Total Commander (TC) file namager (shareware) can select files based on their date and/or time including other file properties. It also has built-in ZIP support for packing and unpacking archives. Other archive formats such as 7z, RAR, etc. can be added via packer plugins. But you might want to try free TC clones first, because they likely to have the same set of features. Double Commander (recommended; has TC-compatible plugin support) https://doublecmd.sourceforge.io/ Free Commander (recommended; has TC-compatible plugin support) https://freecommander.com/en/summary/ Multi Commander http://multicommander.com/ Hi JJ, I downloaded TC (shareware). I don't mind paying for it if it does what I want. I will report back later after I try it out. Thanks again, John |

ALTERNATIVE: Note: This is only a one time task (harvest/copy files of a specified date from "Documents and Settings" folder tree). I have "FM" (Files Manage for Dos) that has many features including "harvest". It automatically enters every sub-folder in a folder tree to copy files of a specified date or type, but using WinXP's "Command Prompt" has a limitation. You can NOT go to the deepest sub-folder in "Documents and Settings" (causes a "directory change error"). This was the reason I posted the original message/request. SOLUTION: Note: I have old PCs with Win98 & Win95, etc. I remembered that Win98's "Dos Prompt" allows you to do some things that you can NOT do using WinXP's "Command Prompt". One of those "things" is, you can go into the "deepest" sub-folder. Therefore, I "zipped up" "Documents and Settings", put it on a USB flash drive, put it in a Win98 PC, and I was ABLE to "harvest" every file of a specified date from the "Documents and Settings" tree.
