Saving changes to registry values
There are a number of 'features' in XP that I always want to change or
disable when installing a new system that require editing registry values (disabling the irritating 'balloon help' or 'tooltips' and increasing the number of Recent Documents are two that spring to mind). Editing the necessary values is easy, but since this is something I want to do for every installation, I'd like to be able to save the modified values and import them in one go. This would save time and streamline the customisation process. Is it possible? How can I do this? -- Jonathan Finney |

Saving changes to registry values
Several ways of doing it but the one documented here is probably one of
the easiest way: How to add, modify, or delete registry subkeys and values by using a registration entries (.reg) file http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310516 John Jonathan Finney wrote: There are a number of 'features' in XP that I always want to change or disable when installing a new system that require editing registry values (disabling the irritating 'balloon help' or 'tooltips' and increasing the number of Recent Documents are two that spring to mind). If you're talking about getting rid of the cartoon like speaking balloons that pop up when I'm trying to shut windows down, I sure would like to know how to do that. thx Tommy |
