Default Need Help Please

-----Original Message-----
Hi Everyone:

I am new to computers and XP. I have a Compaq Presario
notebook with Service Pack 1 installed. I have been
trying to up the performance by changing start-up
programs etc. I tried to change the size of my virtual
memory and got a blue screen error code 24.
Parameter 1 001902fa 2 f50b6eec 3 f50b6bec 4

f98a3b8c
I have also found that a file called classpnp.sys is
involved and there is a datestamp (?) of 3d6de49a

The mini-dump file brings me to the game controllers
window and tells me my controllers are not configured
correctly for my sidewinder joystick. I have reistalled
sidewinder software, disabled it and removed it but

still
get the error. This error only occurs when I try and
change virtual memory. I am lost as to what I should do
to fix this. I have also noticed my comp is running

much
slower than before, but is otherwise completely
functional.

Thank you.

Scott
.

Right click "My Computer", then choose Properties.
Click on Advanced tab, then under performance click
Settings and choose Adjust for best performance. As for
the virtual memory I'd suggest to not change it. Leave
the default value of the Windows for it.
Another thing you might want to do is StartRun type
msconfig and press enter. Click on the StartUp tab.
Uncheck the boxes of any program you don't want to run
when windows starts. Be careful not to disable programs
needed to run with windows. You could do it one by one,
each time restarting the computer and if there are any
negative effects bring it back as it was.

regards,
Elinor
