Photos not displaying/downloading in IE6
Hi all -
I asked this in the Internet Explorer group but got no solutions. In the past 3 days, my IE6 is not downloading/displaying all of the photos (also graphics, avatars, etc) on some web pages. - The system was fine last Thursday. No proactive changes were made by me to the system. No software, upgrades, etc. were knowingly installed. - Using IE6, web pages no longer download completely. Some or all photos (and icons and avatars --- IOW, most graphics) do not download. All text downloads. This happens on pages that definitely do not have Flash, scripting, or other bells and whistles. For example, the page http://www.wrra-oakville.ca/currentevents.html always hangs with between 7 and 10 objects remaining --- there is nothing on the page but text, photos and graphics. - The same problem pages download fine in Netscape 7.x. on this computer. - The same problem pages download fine on my wife's laptop on the same LAN connected to the net - popups are disabled - a system restore did not solve anything - Deleting the Temporary Internet Files folder produced no difference. Nor did deleting the temporary files and history cache. - Booting into safe mode with networking produces no difference Anyone have a solution? This is really a PITA. Craig |

Whatever the security/privacy settings are on your wife's computer are, make
sure that yours are the same? It is not like you don't have something to compare to. If all the settings are "exactly" the same (and I mean advanced/custom settings also), find out what extra security software (antivirus, anti-malware, etc.) you are running that she isn't. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! Photos not displaying/downloading in IE6
Richard -
Thanks for the response. I don't think security/privacy settings are the issue, because, as I said, /some/ photos and graphics /do/ download. If it were a security/privacy issue, the problem would exist with /all/ of the images on a page, no? As for extra security software, nothing is running now that wasn't running 4 days ago when everything was fine, and no settings have been changed. It is a puzzlement. But I'll have a look at the settings anyway. Thanks. Craig Richard Urban wrote: Whatever the security/privacy settings are on your wife's computer are, make sure that yours are the same? Download the file ie6setup.exe from this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en Save it to your local drive root: C:\ Goto START -- RUN and type: cmd This will open a DOS-like command window. Navigate to C:\ to find the ie6setup file by typing: CD \ and press Enter. Once at C:\, type ie6setup /q -- Hit Enter Give it a few moments and the Setup program will start, follow the steps to install Internet Explorer, when completed reboot your computer and try to surf the net again. Good luck and let us know of your solution once you find it. -- "There are no shortcuts to a job well done" "cschiller1atearthlink.net earthlink.ne" wrote: Richard - Thanks for the response. Photos not displaying/downloading in IE6
Unfortunately, following these instructions had absolutely zero effect.
I still am having problems on some web pages where all photos do not download. I appreciate your attempt to help. Any other suggestions? I'm desperate! Craig G.
