You might be surprised at how good it has become in the last few
years. Ubuntu would be a good choice as is Debian or Gentoo if you like
technical things.

Just curious, are you paid to shill here?

A bit late, but couldn't resist.. A Linux paid shill? You are kidding,
right? ROFLMAO It's more like MS paid shills and astroturfers all over
the place, particularly where Linux is concerned. (Running scared) Just
take a look in the COLA group to get a good idea of the extent of MS
paid shills, astroturfers and FUD spreaders. ..But not nearly limited to
there, MS shills are EVERYWHERE, and now including Youtube.
Look deep into the lawsuits MS has had to fight, (And LOST), and you
will find plenty of eye-opening documents detailing their dirty
practices. It's no secret to anyone savvy or anyone willing to take the
time for research, but MS Zealots, Shills, Astroturfers, and MS
professional FUD spreaders will vehemently deny actual court documents
printed in plain black and white. Those documents include internal MS
documents outlining their dirty agendas and practices, by the way. I
have read them myself.

G'day

heheheh...what's wrong mac'fib, MS gotcha tongue?...LOL!

Out of the box? Even if preinstalled, no sir. Lotsa crapware to uninstall,
updates to get, programs to install, reboot, reboot, reboot. Back it all
up cause they give you no Win 7 disc., etc., etc. If you compare
installing Windows to Linux, Linux is MUCH quicker, user friendly and far
easier hands down.

And all the windows software will work on it? Not from what I heard.

1. Linux is free as in freedom. Windows costs money.
2. Linux encourages community development. Windows assumes you are a
thief.
3. Linux supports more hardware than Windows.
4. Linux runs on more hardware platforms than Windows.
5. Linux runs better, faster and smoother than Windows on given
hardware.
6. I have the source code to Linux applications.
7. I can compile my own kernel.
8. Linux takes less time to install.
9. Linux is easier to update.
10 Linux has much better security.

Will all our software run on Linux or would we have to BUY all new
software?

Software for Linux is free. To which software do you refer, Windows Live
Mail 2011?

I already gave you the names of several.

It's only a matter of time before Linux ultimately overtakes Windows.
It's
happening with servers now and soon that will migrate to the desktop as
more people discover Linux.

Discover it how? Changing over would void people's warranties on their
PCs.

Not if you take the hard drive out that has Windows on it, put in a new
one and install Linux. Or you can make an image of your hard drive and
restore it if you ever need warranty work.

Microsoft is trying like crazy to make Linux go away but they can't
because
Linux is not a single company. They have been attacking Open Office with
their FUD and all that has happened is that it backfired on them as they
got exposed rather quickly.

For those who have never tried Linux I would suggest giving it a fair
chance.

On whose PC?

Your, who else's?

Unger

He's like the rest of us, spreading the word about a good thing.

If it's so good, after all these years, why hasn't it caught on?

NO Windows software will work with it natively. Software made for Linux
will, however, and much of it is also made for Windows, i.e., Firefox,
Chrome, VLC, Deluge, Thunderbird. Other Linux software like Evolution
won't work with Windows. Linux Mint would be what I would suggest you
try and find out for yourself. http://www.linuxmint.com/. It won't cost
you a dime.

You can have your own opinion, but not your own facts.

....that's funny considering that attempting to "pay to save time" with
Windows 7 MCE didn't seem to work at all. The alleged time waster ended
up being less trouble and more effective.

The same goes for MacOS too BTW.

If you do something the least bit strange, you are far more likely to have
trouble with the official Apple stuff rather than just downloading some bit
of Free Software.

Sometimes corporate culture simply gets in the way of good technology.
