On the web access, Google drive is seen putting stuff into Recent but
not MyDrive.

How is that happening and how do I stop it !

From the little cloud icon in the tray I think I have disable atuo
saving of anything but what I put into the folder I have assigned to
google drive.

So who is listed as the Owner of each file appearing in the Recent
folder? Recent is not a folder holding yet another copy of files. It
is a history list. Are you sharing your Drive account with anyone? If
you share a folder, what others can do in your account depends on how
you configure the sharing: "Can organize, add, & edit" means they can
dump files just you can. You can share to specific people or with
anyone that gets a link to your shared folder. The latter rescinds any
control over who can dump files into your Drive account.
