If we're trotting out the classics:

Now that is good. And I'm amazed that it took me only about 30 seconds to
get it.

Now that one *has* got me baffled. Any hints?

They include the following eight (8)

Is that another crossword clue, maybe related to the earlier one? As in
pqrstuvw?

Oh yes! Think punctuation signs.

And I like (1,6,1,4), even if the 6 should really be 7 to include the
apostrophe :-)

Hmmm. Not glory since that's 5 and anyway it's fairly obvious. Any hints?

I don't think it was ever published in a real crossword; it's just
quoted as a favourite by crossword setters. It's a biblical reference.

Get your mind out of the gutter, Bannister.

Charity.

"Ichabod", for the glory has departed (1 Samuel 4:21).

Oh, right. I could have kept guessing for a million years and never got
that. I didn't expect it to be a person's name "She named the boy Ichabod".
I suppose it is a massive help if you are familiar with the bible :-) Not
having any religious beliefs (in the sense of worship, praise,
belief-without-proof) puts me at a disadvantage here.
