Odd that in one country's name "Austr-" means east, and in another's

[There would be benefits if you put the "-- " (including the space) on a
line by itself.]

I think in the former case it's from Germanic (they spell it with an O;
I'm not sure how or when it got changed to an A in the Anglicised
version), whereas the latter is from Latin.
