Default Patch Tuesday

Patch Tuesday managed to kill my Thunderbird add ons.
They were still there but just didn't work, Had to delete them and
reload fresh ones and then they were OK
No big deal just a little added fun. :-)

Didn't hurt TB here, but it seemed to struggle to install, took longer
than installing 1709 itself, then after reboot took ages to re-optimise
the dotnet assemblies.

And here. The patch had no effect on Thunderbird as far as I can tell.

My machine is still installing various 1703 patches! God knows when
I'll get 1709s.

It's pretty hard to find an article with the details,
but my suspicion is, they've been able to kill these
from the server side, a long time ago.

Thus, it doesn't matter what version of client software
you run, they can still fiddle with it from their end.

So true Paul, I have had to replace these two numerous times over the years.

Same here. You are not alone. Two machines with nothing unusual
about them. No hint of 1709.

Thankfully my 1709 has just arrived, and I installed it without
trouble.

Sadly I will still have to adjust the font sizes.

If you are really desperate for 1709 then do it manually by downloading
the full ISO and then mounting it to run setup.exe \auto \upgrade.

It works very well indeed.

Just make sure you have backed up your data just in case you press the
wrong buttons!!!!!!! You sound like somebody who is not technical
minded and you are using the computer because your next door neighbour
has one!!!!

Just arriving alone is not enough. You need to make sure that it is
16299.64.

Sadly I will still have to adjust the font sizes.

Buy a magnifying glass or learn to use Windows tool.

Thanks, I have this, and I've adjusted my fonts to a reasonable size.

By the way, when I had a system crash on my other bitlockered system
drive the other day, I found I could access data via a macrium backup
of this corrupted drive. It seems to be a way around bitlocker, and
perhaps Msoft should be notified.
