Select the folder and press Ctrl-Shift-1 for large thumbnails, or Ctrl-Shift-2 or Ctrl-Shift-3 for smaller thumbnails. You can see this info by hovering your mouse over the thumbnail/details selector in the lower right corner of the Explorer window. You can also access the folder options by going to the View menu, then selecting Options. There are a few other ways to get there, as well. |

FWIW, I've used both, and bought the Start8+ModernMix bundle. ModernMix gives you the standard windows, resizable, movable, with title and menu bars, etc. HTH ClassicShell and Start8 resize thumbnails in the File Explorer window rt hand pane ???? -- ....winston msft mvp consumer apps |

I have it on my W7 at home and was one of the first things installed on W8, which went back to the store. Those tiles on W8 are the pits. FWIW, I've used both, and bought the Start8+ModernMix bundle. ModernMix gives you the standard windows, resizable, movable, with title and menu bars, etc. I assume you make your own PC or LT? When you buy a Dell or HP or anything off the shelf the OS is already installed so you get no choice. You certainly *do* have a choice. The programs he's talking about (ClassicShell, Start8, ModernMix) are all add-ons to Windows. They can easily be added to off-the-shelf Dell or HP machines (or anything else running a version of Windows they support). |

I looked up "Start8+ModernMix bundle" but can't find any screen shots of it. You mean it make 8.1 work like W7? I don't want something worse than I have now. ClassicShell has not given me back what's lost from W7. |

It's a bitch to pay $1,000 for a computer and have problems right out of the box - not once but twice. The Dell with W8 lost the DVD drive and had to be returned. I've seen it more than a few places that W8 with touchscreen and tiles wasn't meant for computers - it was meant for Tablets. Arms get exhausted in minutes reaching over a keyboard using touchscreen. MS could have let us PC owners stay with an OS better suited for us, and let the Tablet people have something like W8 where it's held in a lap. I still have to try and get WindowsMail to work on 8.1, more frustration. Just blowing off steam here.... I hate to see W going down the tubes. -- ...winston msft mvp consumer apps |

ClassicShell has not given me back what's lost from W7. You can see a picture of the Start8 menu installed on Windows10TP at http://tinypic.com/r/nv8wmu/8 Two changes from W7 menu: 1. "Games" is a new menu item. 2. "This PC" has replaced the item previously labelled "Computer". The Start8 menu is the same on Win 8.1 and Win10TP. Degree of difficulty changing from W7 to W8.1 with Start8 menu - 0 |
