Default Using Remote Desktop to connect to a computer on a Secure Network

My wife works for a Realestate company who is set up on a Secure network. If
I am in her office I can connect to her computer remotely with no problem.
But if I go home an try accessing her computer remotely from my laptop or
desktop computer I am unsuccsessful. Ay ideas?
