Unmountable boot volume error
/John/ said:
I have an pre-installed XP home addition on my Dell 4500 that just started giving the unmountable boot volume error during start-up. I found I do not have the "recovery disk" and Dell is no help getting me a replacement. Hey say I need a new operating system. My question is can I use and upgrade version or do I need a new complete version to fix this problem? Search for that term at the MS Knowledge Base, which can be found via the MS link below. I had this problem a few weeks ago, and after technical advice was told I had to reinstall XP from the disc. Luckily I did have this. so this is your best bet I think.

Hi John,
Yes, it appears you have to have the XP CD. Judging from Helen's post you might have to do a repair install to fix the problem, this should leave you with your data intact. If you do it check this site for detailed instructions: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm Good luck On Mon, 12 Apr 2004 10:41:03 -0700, "John" wrote: thanks Rodger !
