Default Software problems

I just purchased a computer - have Windows XP Home
installed. When I click on the Learn XP icon, I can
bring up the syllabus but can go no further.
Noting appears but a blank page. Why?

I also keep getting an annoying Messenger Service
ad that appears constantly - how do I stop that
from popping up all the time?

I read all the options offered as to where my
questions should be directed and I don't
know if this is the right place - I didn't
think any of them really applied.

Thank you.

I think you have to be connected in order for the Learn XP to execute. (I am not sure
though)
Get yourself some good spyware software such as Ad Aware or Spybot.
This article is about the messenger service:

Go to your internet options and connect the XP firewall . This will stop the
messenger ads. Jym
