Default Problems with files and settings transfer wizard - can't get files

I recently backed up my system onto an external hard drive using the FAST
wizard. I have tried to restore the informatiojn but keep getting the message
" The location that you specified does not contain stored information. Please
type valid folder path into the edit box."

The data is there as the folder contains 37.7GB of compressed info and I can
see the files. I have tried using the Fastconv program but had no luck. Has
anyone got any other suggestions????
