Windows 8.1 update
I recently had a pop-up that indicated the new Windows 8.1 update was
available and I should download/install it. I went through the process but I cannot find any evidence that it has installed. I'm running this on a nearly new HP Pavilion that came with Windows 8 preinstalled. It has worked very well and I have no need/reason to update to 8.1 but thought maybe I should do so, just to keep abreast of things as they developed. How do I find out if this update installed successfully, and if it didn't, how do I go about getting it downloaded and installed. My computer seems to be working very well and I have no reason to suspect that something is messed up. What gives??? Gordon |

It seems to have downloaded okay then asked me if I wanted to save or run this download. I selected run and it got under way but nothing else ever happened. Now I can't find the download file nor can I find a site to do another download. Gordon "This PC" is how your "C:\" drive is labeled in after the Windows 8.1 update is installed. IMO, the update to 8.1 is well worth-it. To update your system, just go to the App Store and you'll find the update there. |

If not, I'd wonder what was actually put on your computer, and if so, I'd hope it would be possible to get it again from the same source. -- best regards, Neil |

C:\ is contained within "This PC" - formerly known as "Computer" (Win7) and "My Computer" XP. Of course, a lapse on my part. Thanks for the correction. IMO, the update to 8.1 is well worth-it. Although people will be forced to "upgrade" in 2015 or lose support which is a bunch of BS. |
