What's the best freeware defragger to use in Windows XP Pro. SP2 with limited free disk spaces? Ran JkDefrag v3.36 overnight...

Do not despair. That is a lot better than it was. I do not know the answer to your question. I would try Defraggler. You can defragment single files.
