"PLEASE HELP" My Desktop is changed

hey all ...
you know when you open a for ex. my document u will see
at the left hand side the informaion such as : File and
Folder taskes, Other Places,Details....
(sorry i cant attach a picture here so u can see)

well i got this on my DESKTOP !! i have no clue how this
happend but for sure i dont like it there...and my
desktop is lucked (i cant move any Icons!!) although i
checked in "Lock web items on desktop in Arrange Icons
By " which is not ticked. everything seems ok...

please let me know how to get rid of this....
