deleting operating system
hmm.. it's not as simple as removing the operating system
you'll have to edit your boot.ini file to remove the old entry from your boot menu.. also.. your old settings will be in your old folders.. and if you can't log in to your old OS you may have to transfer them manually. right click on My Computer select properties click on Advanced tab open Startup and Recovery settings and edit startup options file manually. then delete the line which refers to your old XP.. you should know this by the folder name that you installed it to -----Original Message----- I recently had problems logging into windows on my pc and had to reinstall XP. When I reinstalled, I put XP in a new directory so I wouldn't lose my old data. Now when I boot up, my computer asks me which operating system I want to use, showing my old XP and new XP as the choices. How can I remove my old XP so the computer defaults into my new XP on boot up? Thanks, Kevin Dubner . |
