can't create duplicate user account
I've created a new user account and I'm trying to copy my other user account
to this one so they will both be the same. I've gone to Control Panel, System, Advanced, User Profiles Settings...I can see the Copy To choice, but it's greyed out for either of my two accounts. They are both listed as Type: Local and Status: Local. Both accounts have administrator priviledges. Is there a way to unlock the Copy To choice so I can proceed? John |

You have to copy from another account with administrative privileges,
you cannot copy the account that your are logged onto. John jbclem wrote: I've created a new user account and I'm trying to copy my other user account to this one so they will both be the same. John You need 3 accounts: - The one you are logged under (mediator account). - The one from which you want to copy its profile folder (source). - The one to which you want to overwrite its profile folder (target). You cannot be logged onto the source or target accounts used during the copy. Note that if you boot Windows and login into an account and then logout, you may not be fully logged out. The .dat files for the registry may still be inuse. To eliminate that problem, either reboot and log into the mediator account without ever touching the source and target accounts, or get Microsoft's UPHC (User Profile Hive Cleanup) utility. This forces a release of accounts still inuse when you logoff. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...0-42470e2f3582 |
