Function of Battery
This is a little off topic. But when I disconnect the power, I loose the
CMOS settings. Shouldn't the battery on the MB prevent this? Is the battery likely dead? -Pete |

If the settings aren't being retained, replace the battery (approx. $3-5USD so very inexpensive). Best practice is to unplug the power cord from a machine while you work on its innards. If you pop the battery out and immediately put a new one in, you may not lose settings. However, if you are worried about it take 5 minutes and write the settings down. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User |

I wouldn't put my hands inside the box while the power cord is plugged in. There is danger both to yourself and to the computer that way. Ken |
