Default cannot open folders from start menu

Hi,

I am using windows xp pro sp1. when I right click on a folder in the start
menu and try 'open' or 'explore' nothing happens. The other actions such as
delete/rename work OK. This is with both the classic and xp style start
menus.

I have checked the HKCR/Folder registry key and all is ok. The open and
explore actions work OK from outside the start menu too. I even tried
creating a brand new account on the machine and that has the same problem.

Anyone else have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

many thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

Check your settings he Most users who face this issue can still right
click the Start button, even though they can't right click on the Start
Menu. Here is the workaround:

Right click the Start button, select Properties, Customize. Scroll through
the options on the Advanced tab and put the check mark back in Enable
dragging and dropping.

Hi Andy,

Sorry about that, I read your post wrong. Is either in bold or are they
greyed out.
This can happen from hiding the drive letter via TweakUI.

If this is not the case, try the edit on line 203 (right hand side):
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Or Restore Explore and Open to the Right Click:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm
