Curious to know which of the Forte agent versions people are using here.

I'm using v8.0 on a Win7/32bit machine.

The H key shows post information including what client is in use.

That's true of Agent (at least recent versions of Agent), but is it
true of Thunderbird, which he is using? I don't know.

Are you sure of that?

On version 8 it does. Just hit H and all header info is shown.

In Thunderbird, use Ctrl+U to see post information.

Let's try again... When you hit H on this message does the header
info show what newsreader I'm using? No, it doesn't.

I can tell from the headers above that you are using Forté Agent.

It does not require an X-Newsreader or User-Agent header to tell this.

I of course use Tbird on this machine but I am also on at least 3 others
that do not have email accounts associated with them really. I have
never really used Forte agent but hear a lot about it. Any
recommendations here? It gets old leaving one to check another.

All these systems run windows10 64. all high ram count of at least
16gigs and all decent processor speed of at least 3gig. I doubt that
makes a difference but just in case.

I reckon I've been using Agent for over two decades. My current version
is 4.2/32.1118 - ancient, but I've no great motive to change.

Product advantages and merits aside, Ralph Fox in the newsgroup is a big
plus! Thanks for consistently resolving my occasional problems and
puzzles over the years, Ralph.

I've made an adjustment in AGENT.INI so those headers are always shown.

Yes, the OP *asked* about Agent, but as I said, he is using
Thunderbird, which you will see if you press H on his original
message. So if he presses H, he won't see what client is used, since
as Ralph Fox posted, in Thunderbird he has to press Ctrl-U. So my
point that your message doesn't help him was apparently correct.

Thanks for understanding. And lest you think I meant to give you a
hard time about it, I didn't.

Likewise. And I am using the same version, too.

If 4.2 is ancient I must be riding a dinosaur with 1.93.

Fine as long as you do not trample us mammals.

Only because you've hidden it. BTW I can do that in Agent too if I
wanted to. All I need is a hex-editor.

Stay out from betwixt the toes and you'll be fine.

Hey, betwist the toes is safe! It is under them that is the

Where did you get your version of Xnews, and you're running it on

Probably from newsguy.com. It's not the last (latest) version if you're
wondering. The last one is the one that I'm using. No idea where you
can find the EXE...
