Default New ie update?

I want to install the new IE update but the auto update does not want to
work can I download the file somewhere and just install it? Also can this be
done for all the critical updates as my auto update no longer works and when
I try through the website it never finishes 100%.

Thanks

All Security updates can be manually downloaded via the links in the
Security Bulletins issued for them:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx

A monthly list of all Windows update content is published here for 2008:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894199

In order to resolve the automatic updating issue, you'll first need to
ascertain if any malware is present. Using IE, do a scan he
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

IF no malware is detected, then check the WindowsUpdate.log for FATAL or
WARNING entries with an associated error code:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093

Start at the bottom of the log for the most recent entries.

NOTE: IE add-ons/3rd party toolbars and firewalls can be the cause of
this issue, too.
