Password Protecting Files on the Server
We just got new computers in our office and we are running Windows XP SP1
and Office XP. We are in a workgroup currently using our old server which is running Linnux. Next week we will get our new server which will be running Windows 2000 Server. Every user has their own folder on the server; we do not want any documents saved on an individual c: drive. Is there a way to password protect each individual user's folder on the server? If so, how can we do it? TIA |

Password Protecting Files on the Server
Sure, sort of. You should use NTFS permissions and then=20
access to different disk areas is controlled by grants to the=20 accounts used. If you are not going to establish a domain=20 then this is less convenient and requires duplicity of accounts. As far as preventing from saving anywhere except the share=20 on the server, this is not realistically doable and still leave the=20 accounts as fully functioning general use accounts. --=20 Roger=20 "Janet Parent" wrote in message = ...
