Logon/Logoff failure error ID: 529
I searched for articles pretaining to this error and so
far have come up with: If you are a member of a domain using Windows XP Professional with logon/logoff failure auditing enabled. The problem is that I'm using XP Home and am not a member of a domain or workgroup. The error occurs on all my accounts twice and it two cycles that are six minutes apart. Times inbetween the two cycles are random. They even occur when I am physically disconnected from the internet. Multiples kinds of scans have turned up nothing. Is this also a problem in home but just not well documented? |

Is your machine at service pack 1 ?
When you use the Welcome screen you can see this as the=20 system tries the accounts that are to be displayed in order=20 to determine if they have blank passwords. When connected to the network and exposed without firewall=20 you can see this as people probe your system trying to find a=20 usable username/password pair. --=20 Roger=20 "Steve" wrote in message = ... You'll still see logon failures with SP1, just fewer of them. If you want
them to go away altogether you have to disable the welcome screen and use ctrl-alt-del logon.
