Pan works well, is also a Linux app if you ever use the other OS.

That's not a newsreader, it's an RSS Aggragator.

40tude Dialog needs to be installed some location *other than* the
\Program Files folder . If it's installed in Program Files it will
conflict with Windows 7's security features. Try it, you will probably
find it works like you're used to.

I used Xnews and have for years, running on Windows 95, Windows 2000,
XP, Vista, and now Windows 7.

+1

My 40tude Dialog works fine in the directory I set up for just that
reason. Also, the version I use is 2.0.15.84.

It's not the only program I have exiled to that folder.

Ditto. On my XP box.

One of the nice things about it is that though when I install it,
I get a trial, by copying my backed up data into the data directory,
my registration is recognised.

Sincerely,

Don't install it under the C:\Program Files folder. Dialog wants to
write to its own install folder and Vista/7 don't like that. So install
it elsewhere, like C:\Programs\40tudeDialog.

Thunderbird by Mozilla Foundation works very well in windows 7. The
current version is 14.0 and the new version will be released on: 28th
August, 2012 together with Firefox version 15.0;

Good luck.
