Default Browser opens to MSN on PC Startup

I have my PC, cable modem, and router connected to my UPS so I can shut down
everything at night just by turning the UPS off.
Recently, when I turn the UPS on (and subsequently everything attached to
it), my browser starts up and connects to MSN.com. (Firefox is my default,
but have the same results with IE or Edge as default.) I thought maybe it
was because my PC finishes booting before the cable modem finishes
connecting (Arris DG3450 from Hargray), but my laptop does the same thing
when I fire it up after everything else is running/connected.

I had this happen years ago with one of the Win10 upgrades/updates, and
somehow managed to fix it, but don't remember how, and Google has been of no
assistance this time. I've checked my Startup folder (empty) and Task
Manager and there's nothing new there. And it only happens on the first
startup of the day; if I reboot or shut down and restart, the PC comes up as
it should. It's like it has "phone home" to let MS know it's running today.

I have auto-login enabled. I'll turn that off and see what happens tomorrow.
TIA!!

I use Fudge and I love it. My default browser is Microsoft Fudge.

Go to, Start / Settings / System / Notifications & actions
Is there a check-mark in the setting, "Show me the Windows welcome
experience after updates and occasionally when I sign in, to highlight
what's new and suggested" ?

Notifications are 'off', and all 4 boxes are unchecked.

Well, I guess it's as I thought- the computers are faster than the cable
modem to boot up.

I disabled auto-login on the laptop yesterday, and when I booted up today, I
gave it the 3-finger salute to log in, entered my password, pressed 'Enter',
and almost had a heart attack- "Windows is unable to find a network
connection."

Oh, crap, now WTF?!? Everything else has been up and running for about 5
minutes now, and the laptop can't find a connection? Not sure if I have a
local account anymore on this laptop, and even if I do, I have no idea what
the username or password would be. So I closed out the message and gave it
another 3-finger salute (with an extra finger thrown in for good luck, LOL),
and this time, it found the connection, and all was well. It logged in, but
no browser window opened.

So, why is Windows now requiring what seems to be an immediate urgency to
log in when, for the past few years, it was working just fine with this
exact same setup? Another MS puzzler, I guess :-)
