Default Codec issue, Windows XP Pro, Media Player 11

I have a new Sony camcorder and have tried to play the mpeg2 video files it
creates. I have only one mpeg2 codec installed. Windows media player
complains that it is not compatible. Media Player plays the file but there is
no audio, only video.

How do I install the codecs Media Player needs? I thought they would have
been installed with the executable.

Thanks!
