Default Streaming Video on XP Pro

Is there software available to watch streaming video on a iLink (1394) port?
My television died and I am trying to find a temporary way to watch live
television by passing it through my Sony DV recorder and viewing it on my
computer monitor. Windows Media Player shows video from a file but does not
show the port as a device. The port is recognized by XP Pro and I can
preview it as I capture it to a file but I just want to watch the video and
hear the sound without running the capture software.

Thanks,
Bill
