Hello!
I am going to create a newsgroup called comp.mobile.windows for discussing Windows 10 and above Mobile. Will anyone use this newsgroup??? Except me, I will certainly read it and post sometimes even though I am an Android user and comp.mobile.android's creator. Evgenii -- lid |

Pretty much had to argue with the sales rep that yes, I did in fact want to buy it. After using it for a while, I ended up switching to Android just to get a faster phone. I certainly wasn't going to drop cash on another Windows 10 Mobile device. Microsoft has made Windows 10 Mobile's future so cloudy and uncertain that I wasn't going to drop another dime on a Windows 10 Mobile device, even though I really do like the OS (especially, the Start Screen). It seems that Microsoft is doing everything it can to ensure Windows 10 Mobile is not a success. |

If there are any mobile Windows users that do not use a desktop PC, hopefully they will exit this group and post in that group instead. Mixing desktop windows with mobile Windows is idiotic. They are different platforms intended for different uses. Good luck. |

It does not get a lot of traffic. It is not clear whether creating another group would or would not attract any more traffic. Windows Mobile ~ Windows CE lags well behind Android and iOS. |

It's a shame because I liked it too and have very little desire to support social justice warrior companies like Google and Apple. Unfortunately, it lacked in third-party apps and the hardware I had (Lumia 930) ended up getting a defecting in-call mic. If it hadn't, I'd still be using it because it did the job and had the most scratch resistant screen I've ever seen. -- Doomsdrzej EFF & OpenMedia member, TheRebel.media & Infowars supporter Linux: The Chrysler of operating systems. |

What really started to bug me was when Microsoft started releasing Android and IOS apps before bringing them to Windows 10 Mobile. I understand why, but it still bothered me. |

Timing is everything, especially since MSFT relies/relied, and more so initially for Win10 Mobile(i.e. not Windows Phone) on 3rd party development for Win10 apps. Windows 10 Mobile debuted in 2015. As an example Outlook mobile apps debuted in April 2014. The release and code for Outlook mobile was from Acompli. Microsoft acquired Acompli in Dec. 2015. - In the above case Outlook mobile app was available, not from MSFT, but Acompli 15 months prior to the release of Windows 10. Also, due the acquisition MSFT didn't release their MSFT branded Outlook app until ~6 months after Windows 10 release. -- ...winston msft mvp windows experience 2007-2016, insider mvp 2016-2018 |

What really started to bug me was when Microsoft started releasing Android and IOS apps before bringing them to Windows 10 Mobile. I understand why, but it still bothered me. Considering how those apps didn't have a price attached to them, I can't imagine the point unless they were trying to attract people to office365.com or killing the momentum of compatible office suites. Either way, Microsoft dropped the ball on Windows mobile the same way that it dropped the ball on just about every other one of their great creations: 1. Microsoft Xbox - Great platform, easy to program for but loud and heavy. 2. Microsoft Xbox 360 - The greatest system between 2005 and 2013 but loud and extremely unreliable. 3. Microsoft Zune - In every way better than the Apple iPod but poorly marketed. 4. Windows Media Player - Lightweight in comparison to iTunes, capable of inserting a media store through an add-on but never actually promoted by the company. 5. Microsoft Edge - A great substitute for the clumsy and unsecure Internet Explorer but lacked add-on support from the get-go. And so on... They ALWAYS do this to themselves. Microsoft is capable of coming up with some great ideas (like modern apps) but terrible at persevering. It appears that if the idea isn't immediately successful, they abandon it. Windows mobile is just another one of those great ideas which failed because they weren't happy at the thought of not immediately getting 90% market share. -- Doomsdrzej EFF & OpenMedia member, TheRebel.media & Infowars supporter Linux: The Chrysler of operating systems. |
