If people would just block Good guy's posts instead of
answering them it would go a long way to cut down on

As I recall, his last Microsoft advertisement post was
about trying and buying the new version of Visual Studio.
And many of his posts are nasty attacks on someone

For me Windows is a program starter for 3rd party software. What has
become annoying is the Windows update process. Too many mistakes by
Microsoft, too much work necessary for rolling back botched windows
installations, testing patches.

Google does a much better job with Chrome OS, but because of legacy
software I`m bound to Microsoft for the last 15 years of my career.

CrossOver, a free (for now) Windows emulator runs well on my
Chromebook. But it takes a lot of resources so may not do so well
on the cheaper models...

For simple programs like Picasa, Wine/CrossOver is okay, I have tested
it some years ago on Linux Mint.

But I`m using professional, dental software only available for Windows
(about 6000 USD plus 1500 USD/year). And our EssentialPIM Pro Business
(Groupware instead of Outlook/Public Sharefolder) runs only on
Windows, too. And (german) Quicken, payroll and tax software... Too
much hassle to switch to Linux, and cloud solutions are still not
available or are much more expensive.

In my experience Linux sometimes has more problems than Windows, e. g.
updates of the OS breaking programs. But I know much more about
Windows than about Linux.

Our kids are using Chrome OS as their desktop OS (Chromebit and Acer
Chromebox CXI3, both with a 24" Dell monitor, 1920*1200 pixel), and
that shows me, how hassle free a desktop OS can be today (CXI3 even
runs Android apps, e. g. Kodi, and Linux). Google Office is good
enough for them, and Google Fotos from their Androids syncs well. Even
for iOS I prefer Google Fotos and the basically free, unlimited Google
cloud (for fotos & videos) instead of Apple`s.
